What are the reactions of some of the inmates ?
Ans. : In " Toba Tek Singh " by Sadat Hasan Manto , the writer literally chooses a lunatic asylum to fit his story to represent the whole outlook of the partitioned India . If casted a glimpse on the text then we could perceive that on hearing the news of partitioning India along with hearing the exchanging news , some lunatics become more enthusiastic while some become less joyous . A lunatic claims Pakistan to be " the name of a place in India where cut-throat razors are manufactured " . Another lunatic raised the slogan - "Pakistan Zindabad". An inmate climbing a tree shouts :" I wish to live neither in India nor in Pakistan . I wish to live in this tree ". Furthermore , a Sikh lunatic interrogates another Sikh : " Sardarji , why are we being sent to India ?" Even Bishan Singh becomes heavily confused - whether Toba Tek Singh falls in India or in Pakistan . It is true that the rigmarole they raise seems to be hilarious as well as foolish , but it , on the other hand , originally makes true sense because it reveals a realistic and pictorial depiction of partitioned India from all directions .
