Describe the sections in a project report .

Ans.: A project report is a formal , systematic and organised document done or intended for a specific purpose with its successful completion . It should be covered in a clear and useful manner to showcase the work effectively . There are a few guidelines for the sections to be included in the report . Most reports normally accepts the following sections :

(a) Cover :

The cover of a report is the most important section in a project report because it catches the attention of the reader first . An attractive cover leads the reader to form a positive impression not just about the report but about the writer  as well . It includes a title , name of the authors , date of the report , receiving authority , etc .

(b) Title Page :

The title page contains the same information as the cover , conveying the area and scope of the project .

(c) Acknowledgement :

This is the third section of the project report . In this page , the writer expresses gratitude and thanks all those who supported and contributed directly or indirectly to the completion of the project work .

(d) Abstract :

The abstract is a brief summary of the entire project report . Formally , it is written within 200 words . It should be written in a way in which the reader should be able to pick up from the abstract the main aim or objective of the project , the background , the methodology used , the process followed and the results or outcome of the project .

(e) Table Of Contents :

Describing the whole project report in a nutshell is partly served through the table of contents . It includes headings ,  sub-headings , topics and their corresponding page numbers . The table of contents should be presented in such a way that the reader can easily locate a particular part of the report .

(f) Main Body of the Report :

The main body of the report includes three components . They are introduction , analysis and conclusion . In the introductory part , the aims and objectives of the study , brief background history , definition of terms and the like are mentioned here . As well as having well-labelled diagrams , graphs , charts ,  tables , etc ,  the analysis includes well-presentation of the facts with evidence in an appropriate way . And ,  the conclusion is a concise version of the analysis and also the overall significance of the work .

(g) References and Appendices :

In the reference part , we can put only books , articles , reports or cites that help in supporting the report while working . On the other side , under the headings of appendices we can include news items , pictures ,  questionnaires etcetera .

Thus , the project report has to go through several treatments and is made concisely and in a beautiful manner . It is true that though report writing is time consuming and requires a special skill set , good planning , focus and an eye for detail can help writers present an impressive report .
